HTTP adaptive bitrate (ABR) algorithms adapt the video quality by observing the variations in the playback buffer level and throughput over the download of video segments. In this paper, we investigate the impact of video client¡¯s arrival time and client¡¯s speed on the performance of throughput- and bufferbased algorithms in a multi-client cellular environment. The results show that the ABR algorithms achieve higher video rate when the clients join the streaming session randomly. The results also reveal that the ABR algorithms achieve higher QoE while moving at a pedestrian speed compared to vehicular speed. Furthermore, the results indicate that the buffer-based algorithms achieve higher QoE compared to throughput-based algorithms irrespective of the client¡¯s arrival time and client¡¯s speed.
